Jessie & Sadie

Jessie & Sadie were born in late May, 2000. They were a complete surprise because the vet swore to Dad that Shadow had already been spayed, and a couple years later she has this litter of pups? I think that vet moved to another state before the puppies arrived. Anyway, while I back home visiting my parents I decided that I wanted the little BROWN puppy with the 4 white feet. I told Mom which one I wanted but it was too soon to take the puppy home. I went home again in August for my 15th class reunion and was going to take the puppy home with me then. The same day I arrived at the farm, Dad had taken the rest of the puppies that he still had left down to the humane society. Being the animal lover that I am I wanted to cuddle with my new puppy pretty much as soon as I got there, which was when everyone realized that Mom heard BLACK puppy with white feet ....... Well, I fell in love with this puppy right away too, and named her Jessie. The next day Mom, Dad and I all went to the humane society before they opened and as soon as someone arrived Dad explained what had happened and the lady was very understanding and let me take Sadie without having to fill out any papers or pay any fees. And that is the story of how I came home with two puppies instead of one. I can't imagine life without them anymore. In March of 2001 they both escaped the kennel and I searched, cried, called the police, my vet, the local humane society and my dad for 2 days. It was a gut-wrenching experience for me. I went home, both for lunch and after work every day expecting them to be there, waiting for me and was heartbroken each time. On that Friday, when I was leaving home after lunch, something moved me to drive past the soccer fields. I had walked past that park the night before, but hadn't gone down around the golf course. Down in the valley I saw two odd shaped bumps on the snow and a lady up the hill asked me if I was looking for some dogs... I grabbed my poster and rushed up to find out if the dogs she was talking about were the ones in the picture. They were! She had been on her way in to call the humane society about them. The snow was still knee deep in many places, but I think I ran on top of the snow until I got closer to them. I was so happy and relieved! They ran away again in May, but the lady that picked them up suspected they were mine and left me a big yellow note on the door. I had them both spayed shortly after and they have not tried to escape or run away since... So here are their pictures:
I seriously can't remember a time, other than the day before I brought them home, that they have been separated for any length of time. I know they need to lose weight, but other than that they are happy and healthy. What more could I ask for? |
